Large Asteroid Comes Close April 19th
Yet another asteroid will streak by Earth on April 19th. It will be close but won’t hit us according to astronomers. The asteroid is dubbed 2014-JO25 and is about 2,000 feet across. It will come close but still 1.1 million miles away from us. It equals about 5 times the distance to the moon.
The last time that an asteroid this size came this close was back in the year 2004. On April 19th astronomers and amateur stargazers will have a great opportunity to take a look. But, we always say at AsteroidApophis.com, tell your local congress person to support the effort to put more money towards patrolling our skies for incoming asteroids and comets. There is not enough money geared towards watching the skies and next time we may not see it coming.
